MUKTINATH  DARSHAN  YATRA



Muktinath (means God of Salvation) holds a great religious significance for Hindus and Buddhists. This famous pagoda shaped temple of  lord Muktinath (Lord Vishnu) situated at an altitude of 3,710 meters in the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal in about 18 km. northeast of Jomsom (The headquarter of Mustang district in west Nepal) .

The Hindu myth (Puran) describes that lord Vishnu got Salvation from curse of Brinda (wife of Jalndhar) here so people worshiped Muktinath as a god of salvation (Moksha). The holy shrine, which is said to have risen on its own, is one of eight such shrines (the others include Srirangam, Sri Mushnam, Tirupati, Naimisaranyam, Thottadri, Pushkaram and Badrinath). It is also one of 108 Vaishnava shrines and Buddhist believe that Guru Rimpoche (Padmasambhava) the founder of Tibetan Buddhism meditated here on his way to Tibet.

Behind the temple there are 108 waterspouts in the shape of head of a Cow. Pilgrims can take a holy bath in each of these spouts. After completing prayer and Puja at Muktinath temple .people worship the Jwala Mai (The goddess of fire).. Thereafter visit the monastery of Guru Rimpoche situated just left side of Muktinath temple.

Weather;

In the winter (December to February) the maximum be 4 to 6 degree Celsius and minimum 0 to 8 degree Celsius.

Season:

The most suitable time to visit Muktinath from March to June and September

Clothing:

We suggest you to take normal warm clothes. Light warm sweaters, warm T-Shirts, comfortable shoes, trousers and caps are enough for this trip. We recommend you to bring down jacket for winter season.

Accommodation

There is enough Hotel lodges near by Muktinath Temple, Ranipauwa. The Hotel and lodges are fine there Some Hotel have heated hot showers and provide rooms with attached toilet and bath. They provide good food too.

Others facilities:

STD / ISD telephone service are available in Ranipauwa and post office in Jharkot. Police station , ACAP tourist office and safe drinking water station at Ranipauwa.

Rule & Regulation:

Muktinath lies in the Annapurna Conservation Area, where entry permit can be obtained from Katmandu and Pokhara. The permit fee is Rs.200.00/ person for Indians and Here we present little pilgrimage tour to Muktinath
